Let's Get Gritty!

Welcome, friends!  Here you'll find a sampling of our signature gravel events plus our weekly shop road rides. Our founder and route mapper, Don McKee created over 1,200 miles of gravel routes right here in PA for your riding pleasure.

Ready to explore?  Read about our key events below and then head on over to RidePAGravel.Co today!  In the past, we've run monthly gravel rides on these routes.  We will not be organizing group gravel rides in 2024.  You can find all of our FREE and PUBLIC routes in our Club Account on RidewithGPS.  Check out the Collection section to find the route you're looking for.  Routes are organized by County.

Be A Rebel, Ride Whiskey Rebellion Gravel

PERMANENTLY CANCELLED.  We're sorry but we've stopped doing gravel races.  We'd much rather ride.  You can find all of the Whiskey Rebellion routes along with more FREE and PUBLIC routes in our Club Account on RidewithGPS.  You just need a free RidewithGPS account.

In 2021, more than 400 racers and riders took on the Rebellion Challenge. We had some of the fastest racers in the Mid-Atlantic region.  For 2022, we've developed all NEW course routes with even more gravel and we've moved to a bigger venue in Claysville, PA  You'll race the same gravel roads where the free-spirited rebels of Western PA grew rye and produced whiskey consumed by the fledging United States of America.  You'll be truly challenged as you ride through the historic and hilly landscapes of Washington County, PA, whether you ride the spirited SIP 35K, the SHOT 60K, the PINT 90K, the JUG 120K or the formidable CASK 200K.  Compete with your friends and fellow riders from more than a dozen states.   Or if you are new to gravel in PA, try the 35K and 60K shorter distances for a spirited ride.  Perfect for cyclists who ride off-road including Gravel Grinders, Cyclecross Racers, Mountain Bikers and Adventure Cyclists.  You'll ride many of the original winding rural roads up steep hills to the ridge tops and then head down into valleys, crossing historic covered bridges before the next hill.  Road surfaces vary from pea-sized to new uncompacted cobbles and are stitched together with pavement sections for your recovery.  Coming back in 2022, you'll be able to test your mettle on the CASK 200K.  With over 12,000 ft. of elevation along with some mud and grass, it's certainly among the most challenging gravel rides east of the Mississippi.

SWB Weekly Road Rides

Back for Spring 2024!  Starting Thursday April 11th, we will be riding the road weekly on Thursdays.  All rides are no-drop, 18 -25 miles in length, are hilly and leave from the shop at 6:00pm.  You can ride a hybrid bike, road bike or gravel/CX bike.  We are all bike friendly. Probably leave your MTB home and save that for the parks.  Pace groups depend on who shows up so bring a friend.  The main regular group average 13-15 mph.  The slower group 10-12 mph. We meet at the shop and generally ride into Sewickley, up into the Sewickley Heights area, do a couple of different loops and then head back to the shop.  Post-ride beers are either at the shop or a local brewery.  Actual rain and/or thunderstorms/lightening cancel. Call us at 724-266-1111 if you have any questions about whether these rides are for you.  Or check our Facebook & Instagram for ride times!
